Libby Rosa’s work mines the social and political dilemmas of female performativity in the 21st century through the vocabularies of theatrical backdrop painting and surreal landscape, and relies on the technique of collage cut-up to redirect the often-violent pressures internalized by a female body into a communicative and regenerative artistic action.
Rosa graduates from Cornell University in May 2019 (MFA) and received her BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015. She has recently exhibited at Tjaden Gallery, Ithaca, NY (2018), Marquee Projects, Bellport NY (2017), Proto Gallery, Hoboken, NJ (2017), Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn, NY (2016), Sweet Lorraine Gallery, Brooklyn, NY (2016) and Lounge Gallery, Lafayette, LA (2016).
